The short version: I will never sell, rent, or share your personal information with anyone. Ever. This site exists to help families — not to monetize your data.
Who I Am
The Carriage House Movement is a one-person initiative founded by Cynthia Trotta, based in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. This site provides educational resources, cost calculators, and community information about converting garages into carriage houses (accessory dwelling units).
What I Collect
When you use this site, I may collect:
Email address — only if you voluntarily enter it to join our mailing list or unlock the full calculator report.
Calculator inputs — your selected city, state, garage size, and build tier. This helps me understand which regions are most interested in carriage houses and improve the tool.
Feedback you send — if you use the feedback widget, whatever you type in the message is sent directly to me via email.
I do not collect your name, phone number, home address, financial information, or any data beyond what you voluntarily provide.
What I Do With It
Send you emails — a short welcome sequence about carriage house costs, financing, and zoning, followed by occasional updates. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click.
Improve the calculator — I look at aggregate patterns (which cities get searched most, which build tiers are popular) to decide where to add data next. I never look at individual-level data to identify you personally.
Respond to your feedback — if you submit feedback, I may reply to help resolve your issue.
What I Never Do
Never sell your data. Not to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
Never rent or share your email list. Your email is between you and me.
Never spam you. I send useful content about carriage houses and ADUs. That’s it.
Never use tracking for ad targeting. I’m not running ads. There’s nothing to target.
Third-Party Services
This site uses a small number of third-party services:
WordPress.com — hosts the main website. WordPress has its own privacy policy governing how they handle site data and analytics.
GitHub Pages — hosts the ADU Cost Calculator. GitHub’s privacy policy governs their platform.
ConvertKit — manages the email list. ConvertKit stores your email address and any calculator data you submitted. They are GDPR-compliant and do not sell subscriber data.
Google Fonts — loads the typefaces used on this site. Google may collect anonymized usage data through font requests.
Cookies
The Carriage House Movement does not set any cookies of its own. WordPress.com and GitHub Pages may set functional cookies required for their platforms to work. I have no access to or control over those cookies.
Your Rights
You can do any of the following at any time:
Unsubscribe — every email includes a one-click unsubscribe link at the bottom.
Request your data — email me and I’ll tell you exactly what I have on file for you.
Request deletion — email me and I’ll permanently delete all your data from ConvertKit and any other records within 7 days.
Ask questions — I’m a real person, not a corporation. If something about this policy concerns you, just ask.
